Did you know that Frosted Mini Wheats have gelatin in it?

That means it has ground up horses hooves. Dead animal products. As a vegetarian, it's been very bad for me to eat them, but I didn't realize they used gelatin until recently.

See, I gave up cereal for a long time, because it started grossing me out about a year ago. I could not stand the thought of another bowl. I hardly ever feel that way about food, but I did this time. I might have figured out why. Recently, a fitness consultant said I should really switch back to cereal for breakfast (I was doing PB&J). He said it was the right breakfast for me, especially since I have been gaining weight.

So I have tried to. When I was a cereal eater, I mixed Frosted Mini Wheats with Wheat Chex. So those are the cereals that I bought.

This morning I was down to just my box of Frosted Mini Wheats. The Chex were gone. So I had a bowl of Mini Wheats, and I felt sort of sick all morning. By the time I had reached this bowl, I already knew that Frosted Mini Wheats had gelatin, but I figured I had already bought the box so the harm had been done. I wonder if my body was really reacting to the gelatin? Maybe that's why I have been gradually getting turned off by cereal?

I've been a vegetarian for almost four years now, and I think it's safe to say that my body doesn't know how to deal with animal products as well as it once did.

That said, I still eat milk and eggs, so maybe this is the wrong explanation. Maybe I didn't like my coffee this morning? Or maybe I just ate too much? Or maybe it was guilt?

Last night I had a vegetarian dream, like I do sometimes. I dreamed that I was going to start eating scallops. I don't know why, but I had decided I should start eating scallops once again. No other meats, just scallops. So I went hunting through Wal-Mart's food section for scallops, but when I found them, I picked up a package, looked at them, felt really badly and then put them back. I couldn't bring myself to be at all non-vegetarian.
