As my life continues to go through a whirlwind of milestone after milestone in madcap array, I threw a party last night. This party was notable precisely because it was not a failure. I've thrown a few parties in the past... no one came. It sucked. I felt like crap. I didn't throw parties.
Well, on Friday I got kittens (two). At midnight that night, friends from New York arrived. The next evening, I threw the housewarming party for my new house. Despite the fact that of my six oldest friends in Philadelphia, only one of them showed up... I still had over 20 people at my place last night. Granted, I didn't know a third of them, but since I was shooting for 12, I still got at least 12 people I knew.
We had 18 person games of Mafia and a game of Clue got played.
I bought way, way more booze than needed, so I guess I need to have another shindig. I don't know. There's a lot left over. I bought 48 beers, too, but with the beer people brought, I think I figured I only had a net loss of 13 beers. 35 beers in my refrigerator now.
and my bottle of Jim Beam did not even get opened.
Anyway, only 10 months in Philly and I was able to throw a real deal bash at which folks had a good time. There were definite deficiencies last night that aren't worth going into, but on balance there is no question: this town and I are working out together just fine.
P.S. It's a really nice day out but I really don't have the energy to deal with it. I'm going back home and taking a nap I think.
